Which recent remote monitoring and management (RMM) software news stories does every managed service provider (MSP) need to know about? Here's a closer look at 10 of the biggest RMM stories of 2015 (so far).
In July, IndependenceIT began offering MSPs the ability to use existing Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) licensing to deliver single application or application collections, remote desktop application suites or any combination of these use cases to customers. The integrated workspace automation software provider unveiled a new version of its Cloud Workspace Suite (CWS) desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) platform that includes multi-application delivery with Microsoft (MSFT) RemoteApp.
Evolve IP in March expanded its Desktop Services Suite to help IT professionals solve deployment and device management issues in hybrid cloud environments. The Wayne, Pennsylvania-based communications and cloud services company said its updated Desktop Services Suite includes RMM services that offer point-and-click configuration management, patch management, performance reporting and remote control.
ECi Software Solutions in April added RMM and service desk solution provider Naverisk to its managed services portfolio. Naverisk CEO Jon Kalaugher noted that joining ECi will give his company "a framework for even more accelerated growth and the tremendous opportunity to create world-class solutions for MSPs."
In February, Continuum partnered with Webroot to deliver "smarter, faster and more effective cybersecurity for its MSP partners' small and medium-sized business (SMB) clients." Under the terms of the agreement, Continuum bundled Webroot's SecureAnywhere Business - Endpoint Protection into its RMM platform.
LogicNow in February released a new version of its MAX ServiceDesk help desk and service management application that allows MSPs to accept service requests 24 hours a day. The UK-based IT service management platform provider said its new release, ServiceDesk 2.0 from MAXfocus (formerly GFI Max), includes ServiceDesk Voice, which offers dedicated local phone numbers that an MSP's customers can use to submit service requests.
Bomgar in April updated its Bomgar Remote Support Platform, added a cloud deployment version and pricing of the platform and introduced a Privileged Access Management solution. Bomgar's technology also was one of the initial pre-certified applications to debut with the ServiceNow Store.
SolarWinds (SWI) N-able launched N-central 10 in May. N-central 10 updated the RMM platform's native remote control function to create a direct support feature that lets service technicians remotely access customer devices in the background without interrupting the end user's work.
In May, TeamViewer appointed former Swisscom and NetApp (NTAP) executive Andreas Koenig as its CEO. Koenig replaced Holger Felgner, who continues to serve on TeamViewer's advisory board.
Kaseya last month named Fred Voccola as its new CEO. Yogesh Gupta, who had served as the company's top executive for just over two years, stepped into the role of chairman of the board.
LabTech Software in February announced it would add ScreenConnect remote control to its RMM platform, free of charge to its IT service provider customers. ScreenConnect was integrated within the LabTech platform and also is offered as a standalone remote control tool to non-LabTech customers.
