In some ways, I think the LabTech-ConnectWise relationship is starting to resemble Microsoft SQL Server running on Windows Server. Let me explain: On the one hand, Microsoft leaves Windows Server open for third-party databases like Oracle, MySQL, IBM DB2 and Sybase. But on the other hand, Microsoft works hard to integrate SQL Server with Windows Server. I think the situation is similar at LabTech and ConnectWise, as a growing number of ConnectWise PSA customers either try or deploy LabTech Software, even as ConnectWise integrates with multiple RMM tools.
To be clear: Numerous RMM software providers remain in growth mode and maintain relationships with ConnectWise. In fact, ConnectWise is on the road right now, sponsoring the Level Platforms Managed Workplace 2011 Road Show. But the ConnectWise-LabTech relationship is also seeing significant success in the market.
In a press release, LabTech CEO Matt Nachtrab points to multiple business milestones from 2011, including the first LabTech Automation Nation conference; LabTech 2010.2's launch; and growing relationships with Doyenz, StorageCraft, ESET, AVG, Viper (anybody have a URL for them?), TechLabCloud and CA Technologies.
We're keeping a particularly close eye on TechLabCloud, which is hosting Labtech's software for MSPs and VARs. We're curious to see how that approach plays out for channel partners.
