The new ExchangeDefender solutions include:
- ExchangeDefender Managed Messaging: A hosted Microsoft Exchange 2010 solution delivered under the MSP’s own brand.
- ExchangeDefender Essentials: An entry-level cloud-based security suite for MSPs, including SPAM filtering, virus scanning, inbound and outbound business continuity as a white labeled service.
- CloudBlock: Under license from Own Web Now Corp, CloudBlock is a hosted email solution based on Microsoft Exchange 2010 and ExchangeDefender. Mazek says CloudBlock offers VARs and MSPs an opportunity to deliver an effective “Just Mail” solution without a huge price tag.
"We are basically sending a message to the channel that they have no excuse not to embrace the cloud – we’ll do all the work including the billing and collections, all they have to do is get the deal signed. This is the first time that a channel-only company has provided a white label end-to-end managed email service with Exchange 2010, security, migration and billing combined."
Can't Stand Still...Are the ExchangeDefender enhancements truly industry firsts? I can't really say since MSPmentor doesn't "run" the solutions we cover. However, I agree with Mazek on a key item: There's no excuse for VARs and MSPs not to embrace the cloud.
I'm not suggesting you dump all of your on-premise solutions. But for certain niches the cloud seems inevitable to me. The big question: Which path are you going to take into the cloud?
While Microsoft prepares Office 365 (the forthcoming successor to Business Productivity Online Suite), multiple cloud service providers are launching alternative routes to market. In addition to the ExchangeDefender moves, companies like Intermedia are pushing beyond hosted Exchange to introduce home-growth Hosted Unified Communications for VARs and MSPs. And established ExchangeDefender rival Reflexion apparently is pursing a major managed services engagement with Synnex, the large distributor.
Bottom line: MSPs have multiple routes into the cloud. Standing still is the worst option of all.
