SolarWinds, which recently formalized its managed services partner program, has delivered upgrades to its network monitoring and network configuration platforms. The new IT management software arrives as SolarWinds' revenues continue to grow about 30 percent -- but so far I think most of the momentum involves enterprises and midsize businesses, with some MSPs mixed into the picture.

On the product front, SolarWinds has updated and further integrated SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM, starting at $2,475), and SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager (NCM, starting at $2,495).

  • The new NPM version 10.2 offers improved discovery and protocol support for IPv6 devices, Windows servers using WMI, and SNMPv3 traps traffic; improved support for wireless devices; and enhanced reporting that tracks per-CPU statistics.
  • The new NCM v7.0 includes improved node discovery from a web console and deeper Active Directory integration.
SolarWinds has been on a roll in 2011. In its Q3 ended Sept. 30, quarterly revenues rose 31 percent to $53.9 million. Some MSPmentor readers have dismissed SolarWinds, claiming the company doesn't cater to MSPs. But SolarWinds has gradually increased its focus on the MSP community.
