MobileIron, the mobile device managment (MDM) specialist, has raised a $40 million Series E mezzanine venture capital funding round that the company plans to use to accelerate global growth and drive product innovation. The new round brings MobileIron's total VC  funding to $97 million and follows on the company being named in the "Leaders" quadrant of Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management software, 2012.

Institutional Venture Partners led the investment, joining existing investors Foundation Capital, Norwest Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, and Storm Ventures.

The funding news is only the most recent headline out of Mobile Iron. To recap, MobileIron assisted one of Scotland's largest law firms back in March with BYOD solutions. In the middle of May, MobileIron partnered with Structured Partner for mobile device management.

MobileIron offers a purpose-built platform to secure and manage mobile apps, data, and devices for global companies with on-premise or cloud solution. In 2011, MobileIron launched MobileIron University, the industry’s first training and certification center for Mobile IT professionals.
