Kaspersky Lab, the security software company, has made multiple channel hires in recent days. For MSPs, one of the key names to know is Jean Lozano, a Trend Micro veteran who has extensive experience promoting recurring revenue partner programs and service provider licensing models.

Lozano has now joined Kaspersky Lab as VP of B2B marketing. She oversees channel marketing, field marketing and online marketing for North America and reports to Steve Orenberg, President, North America.

While at Trend Micro, Lozano and her team promoted cloud-based security, online management dashboards, recurring revenue models and other tools that engaged MSPs. No doubt, Kaspersky Lab has been moving in that recurring revenue direction with partners. But it's a safe bet Lozano will play a key role in accelerating those efforts.

And Lozano won't be flying solo. Kaspersky Lab Channel Chief Nancy Reynolds told me today that it's safe to expect cloud and MSP updates at the upcoming Kaspersky Lab partner conference in May. Plus, newly hired VP Christopher Doggett -- a Sophos veteran -- also has extensive experience researching and addressing the MSP market.

Still, Kaspersky Lab faces plenty of entrenched competition in the MSP market. The vast majority of MSPs already offer managed security services to their end-customers. And a growing number of security software programs plug into MSP-related tools -- including remote monitoring and management software. (Side note: Last I heard, Kaspersky Lab was powering Kaseya's AV module for MSPs.)

How will Kaspersky Lab (A) engage new MSPs and (B) help some VARs transition to managed services? Watch for answers in May.
